Tools to use: Micrometer 0-25mm/Vernier Caliper
This is how to adjust valve tappet clearance of shim type
N = T + (A - S)
N = Thickness of New Shim
T = Thickness of Old Shim
A = Area of Valve Tappet Clearance
S = Specified Valve Tappet Clearance
That is the easiest way to get the thickness of old shim so that you will know the specified thickness of new shim.
When you are replacing a New shim. Just follow the formula above.
